Candikesvara Shrine

A small temple facing the great tower, as we come out is the temple of Candikesvara, the chief Steward of this great Temple and the principal devotee of Siva. All Siva temples should have this shrine. This temple was also built by Rajaraja along with the main temple.The door at the entrance has finely carved wooden sculptures of dancers and musicians. It is an excellent illustration of 17th cent wooden door that deserves to be noticed.The ceiling of the front hall having mural paintings depicting the conquests of Demons, Sumbha and NiSumbha, canda and Munda by the Goddess Durga.
