A small shrine of the Saint Karuvur devar also called Karuvur Siddhar, built in the beginning of this century may be seen as you move to the North. There are legends about him but their historicity is not known. He was the first saint who sang in praise of the main deity of this temple, beautiful Tamil songs called Thvin-siaip-pa, i.e. sacred poems of glory. Karuvur devar is considered to be a contemporary of Rajaraja.
