- Nearby Places (Landmarks): The small town of Ganapatipule lies on the Konkan coast and is a getaway in its own self. Its main attractions are the spectacular yet peaceful beaches and its rich flora, including mangroves, coconut palms, trees of cashew, betel nut, jackfruit, and casuarinas. The town is made up of just 100 odd families and is characterised by neatly marked roads, red soil and roofed houses which have clean boundaries. Also, the MTDC offers a variety of water sports like row boats, motorboats, aero boats, pedal boats, etc. for recreation. Tourists can even enjoy paragliding. The cuisine too is quite unique. The fish curries and the ‘kokam kadhi or sol kadhi, which is a pink–coloured digestive drink, are the specialities of this place. ‘Modak’, which is a sweet dumpling filled with jaggery and coconut, (and a favourite of Lord Ganesh), is a ‘must try’ delicacy. The village of Velneshwar, which is situated north of the Shastri River, offers a peaceful tree-lined beach. This place comes alive each year during the Maha Shivaratri fair, when pilgrims descend here in large numbers to visit the old Shiva Temple. Near Ganapatipule there are many temples which include the Omkareshwar Temple, Karhateshwar Temple (Shiva Temple), Shri-Laxmi-Keshav Temple – Kolisare, Bhagwati devi Temple and the Shri Mahakali Temple. Other places of interest are Poet Keshavsoot (Krishnaji Keshav Damle) Memorial, Jaigad Fort, Swatantryaveer Savarkar' Memorial, Thiba Palace, Lokmanya Tilak's birthplace, Ganga Teerth Rajapur, and the Ratnadurga Fort . 'Prachin Konkan' is a life size museum set in a sprawling three acre campus in Ganpatipule, which depicts the life in ancient Konkan (500 years back) and is yet another tourist attraction.
