Procession

A procession of the deity is taken out on festivals such as Gudipadwa, Dasara, on the first day of Deepawali, and on Ganesh Chaturthi. Processions also take place on special days throughout the year which are considered auspicious for the worship of Lord Ganesha. These are the Sankashti Chaturthi or the fourth day of the Krishna paksh (the waning phase of the moon) of every lunar month of the Hindu calendar. On these days the palanquin bearing the metal idol of the Lord departs in a procession around the temple on the circumambulatory path at 4.00 p.m. The other auspicious days are the Bhadrapad Purnima or the full moon days of the month of Bhadrapad, the Maghi Chaturthi or the fourth day of the Shukla paksha in the month of Magh and the full moon days of the month of Magh or the Maghi Purnima.
