Festivals

default

The temple celebrates various festivals with great fervour and follows all the rituals associated with them. Amongst these, the two most important festivals are the two births of Lord Ganesh also known as the Maghi and Bhadrapad Ganeshotsav. The other festivals are Mahashivratri, Navratri, Ramnavami, Gudipdwa and also Hanuman Jayanti and Gokul Ashtami.

At Siddhivinayak the Magh Vinayak Jayanti is celebrated in a unique way. The idols of Lord Siddhivinayak and Lord Hanuman are consecrated six days in advance and are coated with vermillion (Sindoor). While this takes place, the sanctum sanctorum remains closed and a substitute silver idol of Shree Siddhivinayak is consecrated and kept outside for the devotees for their darshan. On the Vinayaki day, from morning Bhajans are sung and at around 12.40 pm Shree Ganesh's birth takes place with the Palana Vidhi (cradle ceremony), along with the singing of songs which are especially meant for this occasion.
