There are various festivals which are celebrated in the temple. These are related to the deities which are worshipped here. The main festivals are Kochu Guruvayurappan Prathishta Day, which falls in the month of May, Sree Krishna Jayanthi, Skandha Shashti, Mandala Pooja, Swamy Ayyappan Prathishta Day, Thaipoosam, Sree Bhagavatha Sapthaha Maha Yagnam, and Sree Rama Navami. On these occasions there are religious discourses, lectures on the Vedas and the Puranas, and Harikatha which are conducted by pandits and scholars. Various cultural programmes are also held such as Carnatic music concerts and devotional songs. Recital of Bharatnatyam dance and instrumental music is also held by talented artists.

On the day of Ram Navami, water from various seas and rivers is collected and eight Brahmins and eight minor girls perform the water bathing ritual. The general public is also allowed to participate in the milk bathing tradition in the morning. In the evening a small procession with various kind of live music is taken out in the surrounding area.
The temple also organises a Samrajya Pattabhishekam in which more than 70 brahmins from different parts of our country participate in the traditional rituals.
