Etiquette

default

There are certain etiquettes which are followed in all Jain temples in India and Mount Abu is no exception.

  • Bathing is mandatory before performing puja inside the temples. Facilities for taking bath are provided at the temple, which use solar power to heat up the water.
  • Fresh washed clothes or some special puja (worship) clothes have to be worn before performing a puja. Once these clothes have been put on, nothing should be eaten and the person should not visit the washroom till the puja is over, otherwise the clothes are considered impure. However, people are allowed to drink water.
  • Footwear (including socks) are not allowed inside the temple.
  • Items made of leather cannot be taken inside the temple complex.
  • Cameras are not allowed and photography is not permitted inside.
  • The chewing of any edible items such as gum, mints, etc., is not allowed inside the temple. The mouth has to be absolutely clean and no edibles should be stuck in the mouth as well.
  • People have to maintain as much silence as possible inside the temple.
