This 400- year- old church is undoubtedly one of the most revered churches in and around Goa. It was constructed during the Portuguese rule and is one of  UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites. Started in 1594 and completed in 1605, it took nearly a decade to complete this late-renaissance structure. The hallmark is that it contains the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier. A perfect example of Baroque architecture, this monument is unique among all other counterparts. The word Bom Jesus means good Jesus or infant Jesus and is dedicated to him.
