It is expected that visitors take off their shoes and hats before entering the Temple complex, and the monasteries around the area. Smoking and chewing of any substance is also not allowed. People are also expected to dress in respectful clothing and not use their mobile phones or talk loudly. If Buddhist monks are in the vicinity then they should be shown respect. People should not touch, sit near, or climb on a Buddha statue or the raised platform where the statue is placed. One needs to get permission before taking photographs. Pictures cannot be taken during worship. While coming out of the main shrine one should first walk backwards and should one turn his/her back towards the statue of Buddha only after having created some distance between themselves and the statue.
