Ajmer Sharif is the final resting place of the Gharib Nawaz Moin-ud-din Chisti. It is believed that when the Sufi saint turned 114, for almost six days he locked himself and prayed to God and left his mortal body behind and in his honor the Dargah Sharif has been built. Considered as one of the main proponents of Islam in India, the great preacher was originally from Persia. He came to Lahore and stayed there for a small period of time before settling down in the city of Ajmer. He was also known for his social deeds and noble preaching. He died in the year 1236, after which his resting place is known to have great spiritual powers. It is widely believed that every wish made from a pure heart at Dargah Sharif gets fulfilled. The Dargah is a symbol of harmony and spirituality. People from all around the world with different religious beliefs come here seeking peace, tranquility, and pray for the fulfillment of their desires.
