It is believed to be a perfect time for Parsis to retrospect and reflect on their past deeds and repent. During Pateti, Parsi homes are well decorated, aroma of incense sticks and sandalwood fill the air and lip smacking dishes including Ravo (a dish made of semolina, milk, sugar and sev) and suterfeni (vermicelli swirls) are served.

The celebrations are at its peak in India as the country is home to one of the most significant Parsi communities.
