Architecture

The temple has been constructed with red sandstone, which is why it is known as ‘Lal Mandir’ (red temple). A manastambha or column is located in front of the temple. The first floor is the main devotional area of the temple. It is reached by ascending to the terrace after crossing the small courtyard of the temple which is surrounded by a colonnade. The three main shrines of the temple are dedicated to Lord Adinath, Lord Parashvanath and Lord Mahavir, the first, twenty third and twenty fourth Tirthankaras respectively. The temple is adorned with detailed carvings and paintings in the antechambers. The temple boasts of a tall temple tower or a Shikhara, which is a common feature seen in other Jain temples in India. There is a memorial which marks the 1931 historic visit of Acharya Shantisagar, a Digambara Jain monk, to this temple.
