The dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti is considered as an international waqf (endowment). It is managed by the Dargah Khwaja Saheb Act, 1955, enacted by the Government of India. The present direct descendant of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti is Dewan Syed Zainul Abedin in the 22nd generation. The Supreme Court of India has declared him to be the hereditary Sajjadanashin or the spiritual head of the shrine of Ajmer Dargah.
