Jain worshippers enter the temple saying Nishi, which means giving up. It symbolizes their renunciation of worldly affairs and entering into a world of spirituality. Then they proceed to the main area where the idol of the Tirthankara is placed. They walk thrice around the idol in the clockwise direction, chanting the prayers. Here these three represent the right path, right knowledge, and right conduct, which are considered as the three jewels in Jainism.
