This was commissioned in 1565 AD by Bega Begum, the Persian wife of the Mughal Emperor Humayun. The National Zoological park of Delhi is spread across 176 acres and houses approximately 1350 animals and more than130 species of birds, which have been sourced from all over the world. Close to this is another famous landmark, the Purana Qila or the Old Fort. It is roughly rectangular in shape and is spread around two kilometres. The construction of the fort began in Humayun’s time and was carried forwarded by Sher Shah Suri. Every evening there is a light and sound show here. Chilla or khanqah (monastery) which used to be the residence of Hazrat Nizamuddin is situated in the north-east of Humayun’s Tomb. Millennium Indraprastha is a famous tourist park located near Sarai Kale Khan. Spread over an area of around 84 acres, it houses the World Peace Stupa.

Accessibility route: The nearest airport to reach the Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah is Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi. It is located 15 km south-west from the New Delhi Railway Station. One can take DTC (Delhi Transport Corporation) buses numbers 970B, 410CL, 408CL, 181A, 166, 894CL, 429CL, 429, 411, and 410 to reach the Dargah. Delhi is very well connected with rest of the India by the railway network. Pragati Maidan and Indraprastha are the nearest Metro Stations to the dargah. One can take autos, buses or taxi to reach the Dargah from the metro station or one can directly book these modes of transport from one’s starting point to Dargah.
