These shops are a source of earning for the local people. They also sell various kinds of charms and amulets, qawwali cassettes, caps for prayers and prayer mats. Also available are plastic plates which are engraved with verses from the Quran. Lockets in the shape of a small book are sold here in which people can place a charm with a verse from the Quran written on it.
