Story

This statue of Maitreya Buddha in the Ghum monastery is said to be one of the three such statues that had been prophesied long time ago, that would be built by a legendary figure, Kyabje Domo Geshe Rinpoche Ngawang Kalsang, who is also known as Domo Geshe Rinpoche. There were no audio recording of the chants or prayer for the Maitreya Buddha at Ghum. However, when seven monks of the Ghum Monastery came to Kolkata on January 2011 to perform the first ever Padmasambhava Puja in the city, a recording of some of the sacred chants was done. This album was released as Maitreya Volume 1 by the monastery, in its bid to earn revenue. It is said that right after this recording was completed, it suddenly snowed in Ghoom. This was considered as a highly auspicious sign for the monks, who considered the snow as a signal of divine approval of the act of recording.
