Amongst the temples there are the Gundicha Temple, Markandeswara Temple, and Ganesha Temple. There are four big tanks in Puri where people go to take a dip. These are the Narendra, Indradyumna, Markanda and the Swetaganga tanks. The other great attraction are the sea-beaches, the most famous being the Puri and the Swargadwar beaches, where one can enjoy the famous white sands. These beaches are especially crowded between the months of October to April when the sea is calm. Puri is also famous for its Maths or the monasteries of the Hindu seers, such as the Govardhan math established by Adiguru Shankarachrya, the Radhakanta Math of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, and the Emar Matha founded by the Tamil Vaishnava saint Ramanujacharya. The latter also houses the Raghunandana Library, which contains ancient palm leaf manuscripts about Lord Jagannatha, His cult and the history of the city. The Matha also has the Jagannatha Historical Centre inside it.
