Prayer Rituals

Offering of prayers is part of all the meditative, and religious activities that take place continuously in the monastery. One of the main festivals is the Saga Dawa Drubcho or the celebration of the birth, enlightenment and mahaparinirvana of Shakyamuni Buddha, during which prayers are offered to Lord Buddha. Tel-da Tse Chu is a special puja which is performed on the birth ceremony of Mahaguru Padmasambhava. Tsimar Kangsol puja is performed for six days from the 6th day of the 10th lunar month by offering prayers to Tsimar.
There are many prayer wheels on the premises of the monastery. These are regularly used by the lamas, monks and lay practitioners. It is believed that by merely touching a prayer wheel can one completely purify oneself from all negativities. There are various prayers written on the prayer wheels which exponentially increase the blessings.
