Paintings

There are beautiful wall paintings in the main monastery and in the shrine rooms of the Great Stupa. These murals have been done in gold colour and approximately 50 artists took over three years to make them. The paintings depict the life of Lord Buddha, Guru Padmasambhava, stories from the Jatakas. On the second floor of the Stupa, there are paintings of the precious lineage masters of the Pratimoksha, Bodhisattvayana and Vajrayana. The principal figures of the Buddhas are painted on the walls. There are also paintings of stories related to the wish-fulfilling tree, which were supposed to be written by the Dharma King Kshemendra.
